In case you haven’t heard, I can’t imagine you haven’t, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas have expressed their desire to leave the Big 12 Conference and join the SEC. Here is the letter from the universities requesting invitations.
Since then, they have received formal invitations to join the conference in 2025 and have accepted. It is definitely anticipated that this move will happen earlier than 2025, as the breakup is understandably ugly between them and the Big 12. The Big 12 is left without its two moneymakers and absolute uncertainty looms. The conference has even issued a cease and desist letter to ESPN for basically provoking this move.
The main reason I shared the letter is the commissioner’s signature. It’s mesmorizing.
NONETHELESS, college football as we knew it is quite frankly over. But now that you’re up to speed, you HAVE to see this.
In a hearing that included representatives from UT, Baylor, TCU, and Texas Tech regarding the financial and academic ripples that are left for other schools when the two power houses leave, Texas senator Lois Kolkhorst absolutely body bags UT president Jay Hartzell. Please watch:
“MAYBE YOUR FAN BASE WOULD RATHER LOSE TO ALABAMA THAN TCU.”
In the words of the great JR, Mr. Jim Ross, “Stop the damn match.” BODY BAGGED.
No matter what happens here, Texas will forever wear this L. She came prepared to do damage, and she executed so seamlessly, so non-saliently, and that is how you inflict the most damage.
Today we salute you, Texas Senator Lois Kolkhorst.
